Carved into the landscape, Terraced House is designed for both small groups and larger gatherings. This family holiday home seamlessly transitions between an intimate family retreat and a welcoming entertaining space.
An elevated outdoor living space and pool connects directly to the kitchen and living area. Also containing the parent’s retreat and guest bedroom, this area benefits from panoramic views over the bay and ensures an intimate space for the clients and smaller groups. Three friends and family bedrooms and a bunk room in the basement allow for additional guests and larger events.
Designed to blend into its coastal surroundings, the house uses materials that both echo and enhance the natural landscape. Linear in form, strong masonry blade walls of sandblasted sandstone ground the building, projecting out through the landscape to frame views and create privacy.
Roughcast stucco breaks up the bulk of the structure, allowing it to blend effortlessly with the surrounding coastal environment. The deliberate placement of sandstone and stucco differentiates between house and landscape, while providing a connection between the two.
